To My Treasure (1982)

A family poem by Mike — faithfully transcribed and preserved.

Typed transcription

Stately homes are pleasing to the eye,
With spacious grounds and flowers all abloom,
Wondrous trees reaching for the sky,
Beautiful heirlooms shown in every room.

But there is a special treasure,
Beyond price, guarded night and day,
Eyes gaze upon with pleasure—
Regardless the price they paid, I pray.

I also have a treasure,
But mine is love and free,
A companion for any leisure,
Full of love is she.

Five and forty years we’ve shared,
With normal ups and downs,
I have been well loved and cared,
With many smiles, few frowns.

So to you, my treasured one,
My gentle, loving wife,
Thank you for all you’ve done
To make a happy married life.
